It used to be a great site to shop, but lately it’s been back to back lost and canceled orders that take weeks to dispute. Definitely would look into the other options out there that also offer cheaper shipping options and better customer service.

Extremely frustrating to use because there’s no guarantee that the person you’re doing business with is serious. I’ve tried to buy some larger items but the seller cancelled on me. Other times, as a seller, I’ve sold multiple items to one buyer but they had an invalid address as it turns out. Can’t change the address so I had to cancel all three orders only to have Mercari label me as someone that has a “high-cancellation” rate. I’ve only had 9 sales! But because I was the adult and did the right thing, I’m labeled as someone that’s untrustworthy. I contacted their support and they just patronize me on how I should cancel fewer sales. Edit: While I do stand by my comments that I previously made, after buying and selling more on Mercari, I’m more confident in this marketplace. I’ve been able to get quite a few items for a great price that I can’t get anywhere else. I do recommend Mercari even if there are certain quirks and business decisions that Mercaris has made that don’t entirely make sense.

They will be very technical if you don’t have receipts they will not pay you if there are weather problems or natural disasters and if post offices don’t scan the items you won’t get paid and when you try by out reach out they’ll say you need a drop off receipt but not all places give those especially during rush hour they will even send you a email saying it’s scanned and delivered but will refuse to pay you due to the technicalities very shady people who work here and if you talk to customer service it’s all just middle eastern people who have attitudes and give you the run around I even reached out to headquarters and they still won’t help me after I got advice from other sellers who have to forcefully escalate and use tricks to actually get a hold of someone and they still denied me this is after they sent me and email saying my item was delivered I seriously hope someone sees this and is able to help me press charges I’ve been reaching out to others with the same issue the people who work for Mercari do not care about the sellers

Lowering my star rating to “hopefully” get a response. I’ve used this app basically since it was launched, but a few things I’ve tried giving about feedback has gotten a robot response of “we want to know what you think… we'll get back to you usually in 24hours.” But then never was responded to so now I’m leaving it here. -HAVE A WAY TO GET HELP. There are many times my problems cannot be answered by your “articles” I need to speak to a rep and you don’t have the option ANYWHERE. -Having the ability to make lists like Amazon or Pinterest. -Being able to share these wishlist/folders with friends and family, rather than one item at a time. (This also could grow your user base of people who haven’t heard/downloaded mercari to do so, to look at the lists from their loved ones) -Along that line, the “likes” having the ability to be filtered more than just “all, sold, on sale”. Poshmark lets its users filter their favorites just as much as their searches. It’d be wonderful to be able to filter favorites, instead of scrolling endlessly to find an item previously saved or to scroll and learn it was deleted after said scrolling. A filter system would help simplify the scrolling/searching process. Thank you for reading my thoughts/suggestions.

They do not care about buyers. If you are buying, buy somewhere else. This is a terrible company.

Mercari is my favorite site to shop. Wish I would have found it sooner. They never disappoint.

I was very very impressed with my Dilim wolf from the crypt he was very well packaged. He was everything I thought he was going to be the joints are a little stiff, but I’ve been watching videos on YouTube about it so I know what to do. I’m very pleased that I ordered this werewolf action figure it’s one of the best to come out this year. I’m very pleased with my purchase, and I would definitely order from this seller again he did a awesome awesome job packaging sending it was great

I’m not sure if they are using people or AI to handle customer issues, but they are extremely rude and unhelpful. Worst customer support I’ve encountered.

Went around in three circles with a different customer service rep with every response, not looking at previous messages and conversations. Couldn’t troubleshoot the issues on their end and kept instructing me to do the same thing over and over. Very frustrating and was almost at the point to delete the app because it wasn’t usable! App is ok, work on customer service process.

Many way better apps (eBay) with reliable sellers who aren’t liars and never respond

I was selling a pair of sunglasses on Mercari and when someone bought them I sent them out, and a couple days later I got a notification saying that the buyer had not received the item in the condition they were told, so they sent back a different pair of sunglasses in terrible condition, and stole mine for free. I tried to get a return review but instead Mercari approved their return and haven’t said anything to me, I have tried to contact their customer service but have been ignored. This company does not support their sellers!

I sold my item on this app. Then a couple weeks later I go to transfer my balance out to only find out they closed my account. So I can no longer access my money. This is an awful app defiantly don’t recommend.

With the amount of fees plus shipping it’s not worth it anymore from buyer and seller view

Mercari has lost all trust from me. I had a package delivered and the buyer said they did not receive it. They refunded the buyer 9 days after the delivery of the item and said that USPS told them the package was marked as delivered but it was actually lost. When I reached out to USPS they confirmed that the item was delivered to the correct address and have no reports of Mercaris contact with them or even of the package being lost. Mercari is refusing to provide any evidence of their claim of USPS stating that the package is lost leaving me to take their word despite me speaking with USPS and being told that not only was the package delivered to the correct address but also that a package is only considered as lost 14 days after delivery and that time span has not passed yet.

I didn't do anything except buy a DS Lite a while back for nostalgia, left for a while. Attempted to delete my account because I didn't think I'd use it again, wanted to come back recently to sell some things I've found. Had trouble and confusion on why it kept saying errors and stuff. When I tried to contact support it wouldn't let me "Error Sorry, there was an error submitting your inquiry. Please try again in a few minutes." Thats all it says, am I not allowed to submit because I'm apparently doing something against the rules somehow? Man, this is so stupid. Fix your site. Never going on again either way now. Thanks for the Ds though, its still great.

So I had Mercari for a while, right? One day I log in, to see that my account has been terminated due to ‘inactivity’. I tried to re-log in, but Mercari said all of my emails are invalid. I even deleted the app and redownloaded it, but it still doesn’t allow me to buy or sell anything due to having no account, which it won’t allow me to make.

I was a seller on Mercari for 10 years with over 200 five star reviews. I got scammed and they did nothing for me. I lost $60 and they did nothing. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. IF YOU GET SCAMMED THEY DONT HELP YOU. I recommend using Poshmark instead.

These application was developed through stealing intellectual property in the form of merchandise display photographs taken from my iPhone. The day it happened replicas of my merchandise I was putting up for sale on eBay appeared on this app with a play on the astrological conception of mercury amd communication. They also pompously made fun of my ongoing work with astrological imagery and the associated name Cari and the speed to which they were gathering funds while leaving my work in the dark to let themselves shine. I would never buy from this app. They are the epitome of fraudulent companies with fictitious names. They will hack your computer phone or tablet I wouldn’t trust anything to be bought as a consumer to be a positive purchase. Most likely the things bought from this application have a curse on them.

I’ve been using Mercari on and off for over 5 years now. I LOVE selling on here especially. Super seamless and headache free. I’d give the app 5 stars in all honesty, but the app has been out for well over 4 years now and somehow the devs STILL have not given the iOS community a proper Dark Mode.

Tried to by the same exact thing from 4 different people. None of them responded to my messages and none of the stuff that I ordered ever had anything done with them (weren’t even shipped to their respective carriers). If you want a package to come to your door, do NOT use Mercari.

If you’re on the fence about using this app, don’t. Stick to Ebay who fully supports their consumers. I purchased what was supposed to be a limited edition elphaba wicked stanley. Seller had a good rating. Pictures were authentic. Paid premium price. However once I received it, it was very clear that’s not what was sent to me. I request a refund and was unable to send in back within their “3 day” return window due to things going on in my life. I sent it on day 8 and they proceeded to close out the return AFTER it was sent (not on the third day) telling me the return window was now closed. Keep in mind the seller had over a week to send it to me once purchased. I requested my refund and they are refusing to refund me my money. Offered a “credit” which I would never use because I will not support a company who doesn’t support their consumer. Meanwhile, the person who sent me the fake item still has an active account and is still selling.

I am absolutely disappointed with Mercari’s so-called “buyer protection” and their failure to ensure shipping safety. I never received my package, and when I checked the tracking information, it showed that there was a shipping issue. However, I was never notified, followed up with, or given any assistance in resolving the matter. Unlike eBay, which tracks packages and ensures buyers are informed every step of the way, Mercari simply left me in the dark. When I reached out, I was told the shipper had already “handled” the issue with FedEx. At the time, I was patient and understanding because I believed there were weather-related delays, but now I realize I’ve been scammed out of $80—with no support from Mercari whatsoever. This experience proves how unreliable Mercari is when it comes to protecting buyers. They lack communication, fail to follow through on tracking, and provide zero meaningful updates. In contrast, eBay actively ensures the buyer is protected. Mercari, on the other hand, just enables scammers. I will never use or recommend Mercari again. If you want actual buyer protection, go with eBay.

Heatherk1001 beware of this scammer! They are everywhere in this app! Customer service doesn’t help at all and will let these scammers take your product and money. Don’t trust this app or “buyers”. Sellers aren’t safe!

Every time I have tried to use mercari it kicks me out of the app and shuts down my account, almost immediately. It’s miserable. It’s like they don’t want me to spend money. I have nothing else to say because I’ve never been able to use the app 🤷🏼‍♀️

I can buy almost ANYTHING on Mercari, from replacement parts for my Dyson vacuum to seeds, plants & cuttings of plants for my garden!!! 🤯 I normally buy BRAND NEW, HIGH-END & NAME BRAND items, completely undamaged, WITH tags &/or in original packaging…at a FRACTION of the retail price. Any time I want/need to buy something, I come & look at prices for it on Mercari FIRST. I tell EVERYONE I KNOW (sometimes even random people I’ve come across) about Mercari & how I’ve saved a FORTUNE💰 over the years using it!!! And time…and gas…and stress…and aggravation…and…

Too many sellers have incomplete listings. They don't list the size of things, have sloppy photos that don't show the whole item, and worst of all, even if you ask them the simplest question, they rarely get back to you with an answer.

Mind-boggling to me, but I opened the package dark sweater didn’t see anything wrong with it so I rate the seller. There was a Calvin Klein dark blue sweater for $11.. I proceed to wash it and then dry it when I find a hole on the bottom front part of the sweater so I emailed them back and say listen I get it. I rates seller I inspected the item. I just missed this honest mistake. Please credit me back the $11 - asked for two managers and still they won’t credit me back the $11. How do you expect people to trust your platform with something as simple as this if it’s $111 I get it but we’re arguing over $11 here. Best of luck Mercari I will never use Your App ever again.

Can you please change the way we promote to everyone back to the original way. It was faster and when you have a lot of items listed it takes a lot longer to enter a price that ends up being less than 5%, so then we have to re-enter a new price. It takes so much longer and there was nothing wrong with the old feature/style of promoting items. Now I just don’t want to promote anything anymore due to the annoying hassle. It’s now way too time consuming for sellers and going to ultimately lose sales. Come on you guys seriously try to have a heart here. Price gouging and now this annoyance:/

I sold a pair of authentic ray bans recently, only to have my account deactivated but the site. I couldn’t accept payment or cash out after selling for the glasses. They said the ray bans couldn’t be verified as real, despite the fact i even sent them my receipt of proof that they are 100% authentic. Such a scam

I worked with Mercari support for 2 days to get my old sellers account setup then after that they deleted both of my accounts. Be really careful with these people they don’t care about their sellers!!!!!!!!

Tried logging in and did not work! Reset my password and everything and still didn’t work. Says turn off vpn or use another network. Don’t have vpn and used wifi and my data neither worked. Guess i’m never using this app again.

The worst customer service you can imagine they overcharge in shipping fees if the package is lost, they don't reimburse you no customer service support at all. I do not recommend this platform!!! Bunch of thieves!!!

I’m disappointed with the ability to narrow searches by color when looking for items. It was one of the best functions, now I have to sift through piles of items I don’t want to look at.

Can you tell me why I made $1500 and you guys only gave me 900?, Also, why do I owe $400 in taxes from you guys? I’m probably not gonna sell this app anymore. That is ridiculous.

Not only do they take 10% of the sale, but they charge $3.00 to have the funds transferred instantly. I’ve called the support 6 times and finally got a response. Again, you’re not getting more of my money for doing nothing. What you are doing is pure extortion. DO NOT SELL ON THIS SITE UNLESS YOU ONLY WANT ABOUT 50% OF THE TOTAL SALE. WHAT A FRAUD!!!!!

This app was one of the earliest i used., and somehow has evolved to be the worst in user experience, buyer safety and protection. Poshmark is way better as an alternative. Closed my account and deleted the app for good.

I’ve owned this app for two years now, and it’s gotten worse. First there’s a high seller fee and takes more money then you earn most of the time. Second if your package weighs maybe .5 more than you put you lose -$6 + for having the incorrect weight. When it doesn’t even cost that much to ship in the first place with that weight. So you lose a lot of money. I’d recommend other apps before this one. They also keep changing their minds about things on the app like the seller fees.

Sell on other platforms. Never had problems on payouts with other platforms. So many ppl having problems with direct deposit and getting hit with the non returnable fee. Scammers.

It’s ahight. I’ve had some bad and since Good experiences. I don’t like how you hold my money hostage unless I sell a certain amount. That’s just wrong I think. You shouldn’t do that. I’ve had to deal with some bad attitudes from buyers and sellers yet haven’t used the sight a whole lot so it seems to be a different crowd over here for sure. I don’t like the way the shipping is set up in the seller end. Just not enough versatility. I don’t care how many people like an item so I get notifications I don’t think matter. I only want to be notified if someone has a question or I get an offer. Maybe there’s a setting for that but I’m not so familiar with the details in the site yet. It’s not my favorite.

To keep it short and sweet, when I can’t find it on a day’s run of my local thrifts, Mercari always gets the job done!

Hii! Ive been on Mercari as a seller and buyer for like 2 years now and I love the platform! Most people are chill and I love the way it all just functions. Much simpler than eBay. BUTTT there is a feature on eBay that I think would make Mercari so much better for sellers and buyers to. SPLIT SHIPPING FEE. eBay has this thing where you can split the shipping cost between the buyer and seller. For example if I’m selling an action figure of a few that weigh 2 pounds together. It’s gonna cost 13 bucks (I think) via usps. Sometimes a buyer doesn’t wanna pay that, and a seller doesn’t wanna have that on their listing. So if a seller can put the amount they wish to split shipping, it’ll totally increase the chances of a sale! Like instead of 13 bucks, the buyer can pay 6$ and the seller can have the 6$ shipping fee on their half. That way one of them won’t tank the whole shipping fee. It’ll totally make people wanna buy something if they ain’t gonna pay the whole shipping because sometimes the shipping fee is a massive turn off on both sides!!
